Sunflare Field | Sneak Peek | Maternity | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer
Here's a sneak peek of a mom-to-be in the middle of a wheat field. I'm totally digging the sunflare in this session and the look of big brother-to-be. He sure is listening hard to hear his baby sister! Daddy is currently deployed, but big brother sure is taking great care of his momma.
Tea Party | Mommy & Me | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer
In honor of Mothers' Day, I set up a couple of mini-sessions for
mommies and their babies. And BOY! did I get a turn out! I wish there
were more hours in the day, because I had to go on a first come first
serve basis. BUT, make sure to keep your eyes open for more specials
throughout the year like this!
These Mommy & Me sessions were at the Fayetteville Community College Rose Garden, and the garden was beautiful! I was a little nervous, during my site survey two weeks prior. There were like two to three roses total in the garden! But when the Mommy & Me sessions happened, the garden was in full bloom.
My second session was of three gorgeous ladies and we had a tea party! I will full admit, it was not my idea. After booking her session, "S" told me that her eldest daughter, "Z," wanted to have a tea party. How could I say no? Then I got another text telling me "Z" wanted to dress as a pirate ... again, how could I not say yes?! Pretty awesome right?! So, I think I have a new stylist for my photo shoots, a lil', fashionista, 5 year old! Hey, works for me because just look at these portraits! Absolutely beautiful!
Without further adieu ... their session.

30 Photo Challenge: Day 14, 15, & 16
Okay ... I know, I promised that I wouldn't fall behind. I did, but I fell behind anyways. But to make it up, I challenged myself to get all three days' challenges in one. I believe I did it.
Day 14: Someone you love = check
Day 15: Action = check
Day 16: A jar = check
The result: My son holding a jar of candies swaying to the night time music ...

29 Day Challenge: Day 4
Oh, I thought I was in a BIG jam for today's challenge: Clouds.
It had been overcast all day ... and not the pretty overcast. The kind of overcast when the whole sky was GRAY. And just Gray. Not a definition of cloud anywhere, just gray. Plus, I had been busy baking all day in prep for Super Bowl Sunday! (Pics to come soon)
So I peeked my head out the window real quick and noticed the moon peaking through the clouds and literally ran for my camera and tripod and looking completely ridiculous, I laid on my back and started snapping. I guess I could have called my husband out to take of picture of me taking a picture ... but I looked pretty ridiculous. :-)
Any who, here's my photo! Did you guys have any luck getting your cloud shots?

OpLove ReUnited: Two Lovebirds Homecoming
Let me tell you ... I love homecomings! Sure, the time schedules may be weird, and military time goes so slow, but the images I get of loved one's being reunited. Priceless.
These two lovebirds couldn't take their eyes (and hands) off each other after they were reunited. It was so sweet. I tried not to be the creepy photographer in the corner taking pictures of their intimate moments ... but man!, they were adorable!
They married just a few days prior to his deployment and really haven't gotten to spend much time as husband and wife. Just adorable.
With out further ado and stopping myself from sounding like a love sick teenager ... here are the photos!

Here it is people! I received my three awards this morning! I won second place in the 2011 All Army Photography Contest in the People category and two honorable mentions in other categories. After being honored in an intimate presentation, I felt like I was on top of the world. After all, the contest point of contact said there were about 5,000 entries that had to be narrowed down to 1,800 then had to be narrowed down even further to the winners. Five winners came from Fort Bragg (where I am) and of those five winning entries ... three of them were mine! How sweet is that? So, needless to say, I was walking on water. Then to my surprise, I found an envelope on the back of my second place certificate ... guess what? I won $200 for placing second! Are you kidding me? How awesome is that? Especially since I didn't even know there was a prize as part of the contest! :-) Not a clue, so that was an awesome surprise!
If you want to check out my winning pictures you can check them out HERE. And thank you to everyone who has congratulated me, both here on my blog and on Facebook — as well as in person! :-)

Award-winning
This year, I entered some of my photography in the 2011 All Army Photography Contest ... and guess what?! I place in three different categories! I won two honorable mentions and a 2nd place. I'm so honored to be among some of the most beautiful photographs taken by military members!
There will be an awards ceremony on January 18th, and I will share with you my experiences meeting the other photographers and actually receiving my awards. I can't wait!
Here are the photos that I placed in. I'm so excited to say "Award-winning photographer!" :-)
I loved the brilliant, bright pink wall behind him. I was actually shooting from our van window when I took this. I remember this fondly because we stopped at this store to get drinks, and since they reuse the glass bottles, they poured our sodas in plastic baggies and we had to drink it through a straw. It was awesome. LOL
I was just leaving morning formation during my Reserve duty and the fog was rolling in. The sun was hitting it just right, it looked like God's Light shining through. I had to pull over at this park and take pictures, I just had to. It was gorgeous!
This was taken when my family and I decided to go pick apples at a sort-of-nearby orchard. We brought along my son's best friend, and as he was reaching for the apple, I snapped this. It was originally vertical, but fellow photographers mentioned it might be better landscape ... and they were right.
I love how the rain drops are so crisp on the apple. I remember we drove about an hour and half in beautiful weather to get the orchard, but when we got there it start POURING. LOL, the boys were hungry, cranky, and I wasn't any better. We ended up eating our lunches in the truck and waited for the rain to stop and I'm glad we did. I got some great shots of them having a blast and hey, won an award! LOL

Promised I'd share!
Here are some of the photos I liked from the Pretty Things Academy ... They gave us all the photos, unedited. Let me tell you, I am VERY critical of photos of me. I kept picking out little things I didn't like about how I looked. But once I got passed my insecurities, I fell in love with these pictures.
Raul F. Rubiera took the photos below ... but I edited them and had a blast editing them!

Family leaves
I had the joy of taking pictures this beautiful family. I've been taking their pictures since the little one was in her mommy's tummy. She is growing into a beautiful little girl and even though she didn't want to crack a smile unless the tractor was on ... I still had a blast and got these awesome shots!
