Sweet Baby | Mommy & Me | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer

In honor of Mothers' Day, I set up a couple of mini-sessions for mommies and their babies. And BOY! did I get a turn out! I wish there were more hours in the day, because I had to go on a first come first serve basis. BUT, make sure to keep your eyes open for more specials throughout the year like this!

These Mommy & Me sessions were at the Fayetteville Community College Rose Garden, and the garden was beautiful! I was a little nervous, during my site survey two weeks prior. There were like two to three roses total in the garden! But when the Mommy & Me sessions happened, the garden was in full bloom.

My last session of the day was of these beautiful ladies, new mommy and lil' baby girl. At first the little one wasn't haven't it. She had just woken from a nap and she was hungry - Boy, was she hungry. Mommy kept saying she's usually a happy baby and always smiling ... go figure, she wouldn't smile for me. UNTIL the very end when we went up to the water fountain and Mommy started talking sweetly to her ... we got smiles! And we got smiles once baby was in the car seat ... lil' booger.

But their pictures came out beautifully and without further adieu ... their session.

Sunflare Field | Sneak Peek | Maternity | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer

Here's a sneak peek of a mom-to-be in the middle of a wheat field. I'm totally digging the sunflare in this session and the look of big brother-to-be. He sure is listening hard to hear his baby sister! Daddy is currently deployed, but big brother sure is taking great care of his momma.

End of April | Monthly Photo Dump | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer

Hey ... did you guys know that the end of April came pretty quickly?! And guess what I didn't do ... my Monthly Photo Dump! What in the world?! And you guys didn't even let me know that I hadn't been regular on my photo dumps. <-------- wow, now that sounds odd doesn't it? :-)

The month of April was busy, busy. busy (I see this being a trend I don't mind!). SWP kept me pretty busy with preparing for Mommy & Me sessions and a few sessions booked ... but mostly, I got the chance to hang out with my family! I know right?! Super excited about that. My son learned the meaning of Easter through a wonderful play a local church put on, I hung out with fellow photographers at a wonderful field on the outskirts of town and got wonderful shots from that, I dyed my hair purple, I helped a friend with her daughter's second birthday, signed my son up for kindergarten, participated in my first mud run with my husband, learned about pottery and got to see Cookie Monster! I also had a few Operation Love: ReUnited sessions and had an adorable cowgirl shoot. Not to mention my wonderful Mommy & Me sessions!

These end of month photo dumps are taken with Instagram or Hipstamatic (on my iPhone) and put into a Photoshop template where I can share with you 15 of my family photos from the month. I hope this gives you a little insight of what my family does on a monthly basis. I won't give too much explanation to the photos, as it is a photo dump, but if you follow me on Facebook — you won't be too lost! :-)

Well, here's April's Monthly Photo Dump!

Tea Party | Mommy & Me | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer

There were like two to three roses total in the garden! But when the Mommy & Me sessions happened, the garden was in full bloom.

My second session was of three gorgeous ladies and we had a tea party! I will full admit, it was not my idea. After booking her session, "S" told me that her eldest daughter, "Z," wanted to have a tea party. How could I say no? Then I got another text telling me "Z" wanted to dress as a pirate ... again, how could I not say yes?! Pretty awesome right?! So, I think I have a new stylist for my photo shoots, a lil', fashionista, 5 year old! Hey, works for me because just look at these portraits! Absolutely beautiful!

Without further adieu ... their session.

Wild & Free | Mommy & Me | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer

There were like two to three roses total in the garden! But when the Mommy & Me sessions happened, the garden was in full bloom.

My first session was of beautiful & glowing "V" and her baby girl. She is also expecting another child soon. Her husband is currently deployed and wanted to surprise him with a few shots of her, her belly and the lil' one. And of course, treat herself to some candid shots of her and her daughter. And phew! The little one made me work, chasing her around the garden ... but we got her!

These two lovely ladies are gorgeous, aren't they?

Without further adieu ... their session.

Spring Break | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer

ANNOUNCEMENT: SWP, LLC will be taking a Spring Break between May 24 to June 10. No sessions, print orders, and very few email/Facebook correspondence will be made during that time frame.

Last day to order prints to ensure delivery before SWP goes on break will be May 17, at 7pm. Otherwise, normal business hours will resume on June 11.

In other news, I will be conducting some Army Reserve duties on one incredibly special day - D-Day. Super excited about this. If all goes well, I will be spending three weeks in Europe to capture the ceremonies surrounding the eventful day June 6, 1944. I cannot wait to share photos with you of all the wonderful, emotional sites and people. I also cannot wait to tell you the stories I will most probably hear.

But as for now, this flower image shall hold you over. :-)

Just a fun shot of roses from my Mommy and Me sessions for Mother's Day. I was overly relieved that the rose bushes bloomed in time! The garden was gorgeous!

Strawberry Asian Cupcakes | Food | Fayetteville, N.C.Photographer

At "my day job," the office decided to have a potluck with an Asian theme. Well, I know for a fact that I can't cook ... let alone try an Asian dish. So, I jumped on the opportunity to bring dessert. Asian desserts are not my specialty, but I decided to go with an American, Spring dessert with an Asian twist. Doesn't make since does it? LOL, it didn't in my head either, but I figured I'd give it a try. All I knew what I wanted was a white cake with a red middle with a fortune on top. How was I going to do that? Well, after throwing around some ideas in my head while on the way to the grocery store, I figured it out. Jam. Yep, strawberry jam inside a white cake with a rolled up fortune on top.

And here was the result.

Cute right? I know they kinda look like diplomas ... but, well ... they could be! Anyone up for a graduation party? ;-)

Any who, basically, I used boxed white cake, Smuckers strawberry jelly, and canned frosting. I also threw in some red (and pink) sprinkles in the batter to add some red to the cake ... but it turned out too pink for me. That's what I get for using Valentine sprinkles!

After letting the cupcakes cool, I cut a hole in the middle of the cake (not too far down) and poured the jelly inside, placing the cut out piece back inside to cover the jelly. You might have to take a little off the bottom of the cut out piece to ensure perfect fit. (Oh darn, I guess you have to taste the cake.)

After all cupcakes are filled and put back together, I piped frosting on the top, made, printed and rolled the fortunes and tied them with a red bow. (You may need help with the rolling and tying ... I did a few on my own, but it was much easier having the husband hold the roll as I tied.)

And viola! Your American, Spring dessert with an Asian twist!

And of course in a perfect world, when I pull together crafts/food/anything from my fridge, pantry, or craft room ... I'd have enough of whatever I grabbed to cover the craft/food I just made. But in my world ... I was running out of frosting and I was running out of ribbon. So, I canned the piping and the rolling of fortunes ... and made cupcake toppers instead with toothpicks. <---- yet another thing I had laying around.

It'll do for now ... I mean, it's not like this was a HUGE party or anything ... ;-)
