Baby Nursery | Personal | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer

Hey there! Phew what a whirlwind of days it's been! I forget how busy you stay with a newborn in the house! It's a bunch of feedings, dirty diapers, late nights, balancing big brother's needs, cleaning the house when you can and trying to get in some one on one spouse time ... it's ca-razy!

But the good thing about all the craziness is that I love being busy and I actually thrive on it! I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have a hectic life! In between my mother and wife duties, I've also started picking back up on my photography business. Not to mention, finished the Baby's nursery! I had to wait to see if it was a boy or girl before going any further! LOL

The majority of the things in the room are upcycled or handmade. And I really love the personal touch all of that brings to the room. (Even though baby isn't sleeping in the room just yet...)

This canvas was painted by my dear friend and fellow small business owner Chrissy from Chrissy's Creative Creations. I know have canvases of her's in the boy's bathroom, eldest son's room and baby's room. Not to mention a few pieces of jewelry! :-) Check out her Facebook page!

I made this mobile out of felt, string, ribbong and a foam wreath thingy. :-) I got the idea from this PIN that took me to THIS BLOG. It was nice to work on this with my mother back in Vegas when I visited to see my favorite band reunion, THE MONKEES.

Of course, this was the main reason why I had to wait to finish the room ... the infamous name in wooden blocks! ;-) I had to know who was being born ... Was it going to be Gunner or Clover? These are just plain wooden letters I found at the craft store and painted for the room.

Remember Chrissy, from Chrissy's Creative Creations? Well, her dad is pretty talented too! I sent him a PIN from Pinterest and asked if he could do something similar. Oh, he did better!

This was another PIN I found and shared for a mini Pinterest Thursday ... again, had to wait for baby was born. I think it came out super cute ... even though I put the feet (ears) too close to the head. But it's the imperfections that make it great ... right?

Great clock find right!? I got it from Target for like $7! Perfect color for the room!

This rocking chair was in big brother's room and was painted yellow ... but before then, it was on the side of the road with no seat on it. I hammered in some nails and wood to make a seat, sanded it and painted it yellow to match big brother's room. Now it has been spray painted teal and the cushions that used to have baby jungle and then space themed (for big brother big boy room), now have new fabric that match the colors of baby's room.

The crates on the wall came from big brother room. They were storage bins that went under the crib ... that oh by the way, was big brother's but spray painted and sealed white. The idea for the crates to be a book shelf came from THIS PIN and THIS ONE.

The flower table was mine and made by my late God-Father. He was very talented when it came to creating things out of wood. I wish he was still around to make something for baby's room! I also got the fun laundry basket from Ross ... for $10!

I made the curtains myself out of the same material I used to make the crib skirt.

And there you have it folks! My baby's nursery! I am very proud of it and had to share it with you. Which reminds me ... you NEED to photograph your child's room! I made a lot of things for my first son's nursery and big boy room but never took pics! I mean, why wouldn't I take pics of it?! I took pics of my son's Avenger room ... but the nursery and toddler room are only faint memories now. I cannot remind you guys enough how important pictures are! Even if it's just a picture of a room. It's a lifetime of memories!

He's here! | Homecoming | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer

Doesn't the anticipation on their faces just melt your heart?! They were looking so hard through security to see their daddy walk through the doors and into their arms!

And here it is ... the best out of focus, motion blurred image I have captured to this date ...

This first image says it all ... everyone was excited to see daddy finally home! <3

I took this family's photos before daddy left .. you can see them HERE, but I thought these girls (and their baby brother) were adorable then. Nine months later ... they have just gotten cuter and sweeter! I loved being at the airport with them as they anxiously waited for daddy!

Look how patiently they wait as mommy and daddy kiss! <3

Sweet, sweet lil' boy and his daddy. I just love it. I can't say it enough. This family is just the coolest, most sweetest family I've worked with!

Before you leave | Family | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer

Before daddy deployed, this family wanted fun family photos ... and that's what we did!

Love when I can capture mom and dad's love! Even when there's a ton  of mosquitoes flying around!! ;-) These guys were troopers in the humidity and with those flying pests!

This lil' booger had me funning around saying cheese .... but in the wrong direction of the camera! <3 Had a blast though!

And just look at how cute his little brother is!! he was just having a blast cooing on the blanket as big brother ran around!

Welcome Home Mom! | Military Homecoming | Fort Bragg, N.C. Photographer

When I got the email from this soldier in Afghanistan asking for a photographer for her homecoming ... I was ecstatic. She left her baby boy at just 6 months old and now he was walking! She wanted those precious moments of reunion captured on camera. And of course I jumped at the opportunity. (and the fact that she wanted me there even though my baby bundle of joy was due around the same time of her return! But she had faith and wanted lil' ol' me. I could NOT say no!) And Boy, I'm so glad I didn't!

Son and Dad were so anxious to see their hero home. Dad was emotional, and boy, it was hard for me to hold back the tears ... and I've done a ton of homecomings! But seeing the husband there waiting instead of a wife, was wow ... it was fantastic! (especially being a female soldier myself. it was awesome to see the excitement and joy from a male this time).

And of course our hero's mom was super relieved and excited to welcome home her own baby girl as well! <3

This is the moment I get nervous. I know babies never forget their parents. but it's been a while and people have high hopes for these pictures. First glimpse and holding and kissing. What if baby bursts into tears?! But look, it was such a sweet moment between mom and baby and not to mention the look on dad's face when baby leaned into mom.

Then mom and dad's first kiss. I just love this moment!

And then momma got to see her lil' man walk in person for the first time. <3 I love it!

And of course, you can't forget the whole family!

I'd love to be your photographer and capture these precious moments for you!

New SWP Addition | Personal | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer

Ladies and Gents, let me introduce you to .... Gunner! Yep, if you haven't heard, I finally had my second child and it's a HE! :-) If you remember, I didn't want to know the sex and wanted to keep it a secret. And boy! Was it exciting asking the doc and hearing him say, "It's a boy!" Man, my heart just hung still with pride and love. It was amazing. You can read about my decision HERE.

Even though I'm moving into the direction of birth photography, I didn't have a photographer at my delivery. I know, shame on me. But I do want to commend my husband for doing a pretty good job!

After a lil' stress and a few tears, Gunner made his appearance into the world on October 7 at 5:24 a.m.

He was not a happy camper when he was getting cleaned up, but I was so happy to hear him cry. It meant he was here and healthy. I gotta give it to my husband for being my support and taking my photography demands. "Did you get the weight?" "How is the light over there?" "Don't forget to turn the flash off!" He was great and did great with the photos!

But I took over the picture taking once I could move my legs again! ;-)

Dokken got a few big brother gifts when he came to visit us in the hospital. He was super excited to meet his baby brother. He wanted a brother so bad, but he said, "If it was a girl, I'd still love her." <3

He didn't want to wake Gunner and was super quiet and nervous to hold him. But eventually, big brother came through and is doing a great job in his new role!

Beach Maternity | Personal Blog | Fort Fisher, N.C.

I thought I would share my maternity pictures that I got down in Wilimington. My friend and fellow photog, Kristen Huntley, was kind enough to photograph my growing belly and the two boys in my life. She did such a wonderful job. When I saw the images, all I could do was smile. They were gorgeous and wow! did we have fun with Kristen! If anyone wants pictures by the beach, I highly recommend Kristen. Check out her work HERE.

All images are copy-righted to Kristen Huntley | Photographer:

I never had maternity pics with my eldest, so I was a lil' hesitant to get them done for this baby. But all my photographer friends said I HAD to, and I'm so glad I did. My stubborn, hard-headed son did fantastic for Kristen ... even though it took a lil' coaxing for him to cooperate. LOL he's definitely a photog's kid ... hides from the camera when I'm not holding it. :-)

<3 I mean, I married my best friend. I just love these images.

I asked Kristen for this cheesy pose, but I'm so glad I did. beautiful. I mean, I can't say how much I love it because I love it soooo much!!

I wasn't planning on getting in the water this far ... but I'm so glad I did. I LOVED this picture Kristen got! I mean, I didn't think I could look this pretty while pregnant!

My boys, look how handsome they look! Again, I highly recommend Kristen Huntley | Photographer for anyone wanting gorgeous beach pictures!!
