Cake Smash | 1 year old | Guest Vegas Photographer

While in Vegas, I also caught up with another high school acquaintance and her family. Her baby boy was turning 1 that week and she wanted to share with family and friends his accomplishments. So ... We set out to do what we do best, showcase her lil' boy!

(Side note: how fun are these back grounds? This is in the Art District of Las Vegas and I was super excited to shoot here, and super thankful that she allowed me to take her baby boy to the area!)

Momma's boys | Mommy & Me | Guest Vegas Photographer

I headed to Vegas (my home) to visit and mostly to attend my 10 year high school reunion. But while I prepared to meet long lost friends, I took some portraits for my high school buddies!

These are the sweetest boys! They love their momma and boy is she going to have a handful when they are old enough to date! All the girls are gonna want to hold their hands!

See what I mean?! Cuties right?

Tears of Joy | OpLove: Homecoming | Fort Bragg Photographer

She was so calm and collect when I met her at Green Ramp ... then they marched in. LOL She was like a lil' kid in a candy shop, they couldn't get released fast enough. She was just simply relieved he was home. First deployments are always the hardest.

He's home | OpLove: Homecoming | Fort Bragg Photographer

As a chaplain, you don't carry a weapon into war. Nerve-wrecking right? I've never been to war, but I think I would like to be carrying some kind of protection ... well, chaplains don't. Their weapon? Religion. And 10 times out of 10, that's the best weapon someone can possess. Welcome home, Sir. Welcome home.

Sweet Relief | Homecoming | Fort Bragg Photographer

This homecoming was different than the rest. After wife hugged husband and kissed, it was the kids' turns. Wife looked over to me and said, "I didn't think he was coming home this time."

My heart dropped. What an awful feeling to have when your loved one is in harms way, risking his life for the country. She continued, "When he left, it just felt different. It's a sweet relief to have him home with us today."

Remember that even though the media and some Americans have forgotten that we are still at war, the families of military servicemembers live in fear of the worse while these brave men and women fight for our freedoms. Never forget that. If your soldier has returned, hug him or her tightly because they are still with you. Thousands of children have lost their daddies/mommies, wives have lost their husbands, husbands have lost their wives, parents have lost their sons/daughters, and siblings have lost their brothers/sisters. Remember that we are still at war and remind those who forget.

Don't think these images need an explanation, but I did want to add that I had the pleasure of photographing them before he was deployed. This couple won the Valentine's Day "Best Love Story Contest." Their love story is truly from Hollywood! You can read about it HERE.

Urban Momma | Maternity | Fayetteville, NC Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing these beautiful ladies again and boy! (you can see her mommy and me post HERE) Talk about amazing images! Momma wanted some urban looking shots and I knew exactly where to take her, Downtown Fayetteville! Lil' one is very active and made me work to get her portrait, but I loved every minute of it. I mean, I can't complain when I have gorgeous models to work with!

Shepherd's Pie - My way | Pinterest Thursday | iPhonography

Okay, first let me apologize. Totally didn't do a Pinterest Thursday last week ... whoops. My bad.

BUT! I'm making up for the lack of Pinterest Thursday and showing you a GREAT dish that I made without using a pin! Yep, you heard me right. I'm sharing my own recipe for you to pin, all along sharing my heritage with y'all!

My family is Irish-American and we are proud of our roots. We love our meat and potatoes and every once in a while, I make some shepherds' pie. I threw in a lil' twist this time, some asparagus! That's the beauty of shepherds' pie, it's a hodge-podge of anything and whatever!

Recipe:
Ground turkey
6 white potatoes
handful of asparagus
carrots
corn
2 eggs
and whatever else
Directions:
Peel and cute potatoes, throw into pot, boil, and let soften
Brown meat in a medium frying pan
In the meantime, cut up carrots and asparagus, and heat up corn
Throw veggies in with the meat as it browns and fry for a lil' longer
Once potatoes are soft, mash up with milk and butter.
Pour veggies and meat into baking dish and ensure its even
Pour mashed potatoes on top of meat and veggies, ensure even
Use two egg whites and brush over top
Put pie into oven at 375F degrees
Leave in until potatoes are lightly browned (about 20-30 minutes)

Viola! Perfect pie that fills you up!

Urban Flowers | Mom & Daughter | Fayetteville, NC Photographer

Look at these gorgeous girls! Annie is a close friend of mine and a photographer herself. When she asked me to take her and her daughter's portraits, I of course jumped at the opportunity! It's always a great compliment for a photographer to be asked by another photographer for photos! :-)

It had been raining on and off all day leading up to the session, but Annie was determined for portraits so we headed out to the location and waited for an opening in the sky. Low and behold, the clouds moved and we got a couple of great images in dry (but humid) weather. Cute right?

But guess what? It started to rain ... LOL ... so I grabbed the umbrella and took a couple of fun rain images. I think they came out great, and of course, the models helped with that! :-)
