Nevada Shoot

I just got back from a much needed vacation from Nevada. I'm orginally from Henderson, NV ... about 40 minutes from Las Vegas. I consider Vegas my "home" because, 1) my parents live there and 2) that's the longest they've (we've) ever lived somewhere. My family is military and we moved a lot while growing up. But Fayetteville may soon become my new home because we are creeping up on almost 7 years living here.

However, while home I took a session of a high school friend's children and I must say, they are adorable! These pics were taken at the Clark County Heritage Museum where there were trains, older buildings, and a fun, red barn. It is the perfect place to let little ones roam around and not worry about what they'll get themselves into ... very child friendly. So ... I let the kiddies run and I chased them!

We started at 9 am thinking the heat wouldn't affect us too much ... especially the kids ... but even at that time the Nevada heat started to cook us! But these little troopers stuck it out and performed well, giving me sweet smiles and precious poses!

And these are the adorable portraits I got! I am pretty impressed with myself, if I do say so myself! :-)

Look at these precious kids! "M" was such a great poser and even though "B" was getting tired and hot, his smiles were perfect!

I do have to say, children sessions definitely are my favorite!

Business shoot

This session was a BLAST! La Toya was all smiles, fun to work with, and had A LOT of ideas! We had a fun filled two hours that just fly by. We started at Methodist University near the "pie" sign because she is really into numbers and math. She also owns her own music business, so we took a ton of pictures with her numerous instruments. The electric guitar was PERFECT to mess around with selective color and the university's structures were amazing! I even tried to mess around with back light. It didn't turn out EXACTLY how I wanted it, but it worked out.

After taking a few shots outside, I also took some more portrait style photos inside for her business and also got to see her music studio. That is where the session got really good ... she is so comfortable behind the soundboard and the journalistic photos I took were amazing!

Please see below for the great pics!

In the studio she was a natural!

This is to show you how much fun she really is! Who wouldn't
want to do business with her?! She's great!

WOW! I need to catch up on my blogging!

I am so far behind on my blogging here on SWP's blog... I just got done with a fantastic vacation (pictures will be blogged soon... LOL) and now my mind is in the right place. Vacations are truly needed, even if you thoroughly enjoy your job like I do!

Below are a few photos from one of my sessions I took within the past month. This was the first time going to this location, Clark Park, and wow, the possibilities are endless here! I had a blast! My favorite spot to shoot was on the railroad tracks, but the old wooden buildings were awesome as well! Not to mention that I love this family and the little boy is just precious.

Enjoy!
