Last Session of Year | Themed | Fayetteville, NC Photographer

I was thankful enough to have my best friend pose for a themed session that I have been wanting to do. Unfortunately, it was extremely windy and cold ... but she was a trooper.

I wanted to do the snow queen theme because I was seeing so many photographers from other parts of the country with snow and making amazing images ... we don't have snow here very often. So, I had to make my own (with Photoshop)! :-)

Raheem | Elf on the Shelf | Fayetteville, NC Photographer

This past Christmas my family had the pleasure of meeting Raheem the Elf (and yes, my son choose to name him Raheem - don't ask). He sorta just showed up on our doorstep one day and my son couldn't have been more thrilled! Santa really was watching over him and making sure he was being good!

He started off sorta shy ... and he helped out a lil' with my photography business. One night, he helped put in a print order for one of my customers. He also brought us a Christmas tree! Pretty sweet right? But then he started to get mischievous!

He was found playing with my son's toys, watching TV and having a beer, having snowball fights, hanging underwear on the Christmas tree, eating ice cream and pie, parachuting, fishing, scanning himself ... and his butt (My son LOVED that one), hosting monster truck rallies and photo shoots and even played Call of Duty which my son isn't even allowed to watch! Through all of his shenanigans, we love him and can't wait for him to return! Christmas Eve was bitter sweet when we had to say goodbye. But Raheem, as sweet as he is, made sure my son was prepared to leave reindeer snacks along with Santa's cookies. Always a thinker, that Raheem!

At first, I really didn't understand this Elf on the Shelf thing. I thought it was creepy. I mean what kid wants to know there's an Elf, that Santa sent, watching his every move. Then I thought about it more ... What's so different than the Elf watching or Santa watching? Either way someone is watching you whether you good or bad. Why wouldn't Santa have a middle man to help check his list twice?

My son loved having Raheem in the house and even when he traveled to Colorado to visit grandparents, my son made sure to tell Raheem exactly where his they lived. So sweet. My son even flipped out when Raheem fell on him "making (my son) touch him." Have you heard the story of The Elf on the Shelf? You should check into it. It's a great book, teaches morals and just an awesomely fun thing to do over the holidays. There's even ways to incorporate it with Christian values.

Raheem, we will miss you but cannot wait to see you next year and see what kind of fun things you get yourself into!

Holiday at Home | Family | Fayetteville, NC Photographer

I love this family ... not only because they are close friends of mine, but because they keep to their roots. They aren't afraid for not-so-perfect smiles, beautiful locations, crisp outfits, or dirt on their clothes. What I love is that this is the fifth time I've taken their pictures and the fifth time they've said, "Let's do them at our place." See? So simple, yet so perfect for this family. Luckily for me, their home is gorgeous, they're a good looking family, and always dress awesome!

Color of Love | Couples | Fayetteville, NC

These two love birds are getting married in February and guess who is photographing their memories on that very special day? Yep! That's right, it's me! I was so excited to take their engagement portraits that I even took them to a super secret location where I had never been to before.

Okay, so it's not super secret, in fact a lot of photographers go there. But I mean, come on! Who wouldn't shoot here? It's gorgeous and looks amazing during the Fall! I cannot wait to check it out in Spring with all the flowers and greenery.

I also made custom announcements for them as well. They came out soooooo cute!

College Grad | Senior Portraits | Fayetteville NC Photographer

First, I want to congratulate Cindy on her completing her college degree! Not only is she from my school, but this is the second time I've gotten to work with her! Love repeat customers! Her main goal for this shoot was "just a few shots of me and announcements." I think we captured her life at the university and her degree major. I think she also look so beautiful!

Together, we came up with her announcement. If you're interested in having custom cards made, please email me at sharilynwellsphotography@gmail.com. To see some of my custom cards and other products I offer, please click HERE.

Rescue | Pets | Fort Bragg NC Photographer

So, I don't have a Pinterest Thursday for y'all ... BUT I did take shots of these guys at the Fort Bragg Animal Shelter. Go check out their Facebook page, HERE.

In the meantime, look at these guys! Just adorable. I need you guys to go adopt one or five and give them a forever home!

Pulling at the heart strings here! You know you need one! (But in all seriousness, these are great animals and each one deserves a family that will love them unconditionally and not abandoned them when it's inconvenient.  Owning a pet is a full time commitment and there's no take backs! You wouldn't give away your child would you?)

Out Numbered | OpLove: Pre-Deployment | Fayetteville NC Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing this family. I had worked with the youngest boy before. Does he look familiar? He play Thor in our Avengers themed session a while ago. Looks much different without a long blonde wig on huh?! LOL But this family is just awesome. They had me cracking up the whole time! Their family is definitely ran by the boys and momma is just hanging on for the ride. But her love for them showed the whole session and in the pictures. Not to mention how great dad looked in his dress uniform and the love he shares with his wife.

Without further ado:

My Family | Family | Fayetteville NC Photography

I was getting jealous of all my clients having these awesome portraits with the colors of Fall behind them. Every day on my drive home, I drove past a field and the way the sun hit the trees in the back ... I just knew I had to do a session there. And why not do it with my family?! Enjoy!

My boy is such the poser and I love it! GQ look out!
My son pushed the trigger here for the two of us. I think he's got talent!
I also wanted to throw in a little photography tip. People ask me how I find these pretty spots around Fayetteville. The answer? You have to look through a photographer's eye because these places are literally right in front of your noses! This area is literally off the road in between a Walmart and a bank. You can turn any most locations into an awesome location, you just have to know where to stand.

Exhibit A:
The most important thing to remember is that light is your friend. You can see the location isn't really much ... just a field and some trees. There is a road between the grass line and the tree line. (So, I was also timing my shots between cars driving by.) First picture I put my son in the chair with the sun hitting him from the right side. Even with Photoshop skills, I couldn't save the harsh shadows on his face. By simply shooting with the sun behind him (and a flash - yes a flash outside in the sun) the picture became so much more. My small tip for the day. ;-)
