For the Good of the Country: Part 2

I did another sitting for a family with the help of the Soldiers' Angels Portraits of Love Organization. This organization is great in which they've partnered up with JC Penny's photography studios and local photographers to give families of deployed soldiers the chance to send portraits to their loved ones that are fighting for our country.

This family lived out in the "country" and I had an abundance of backdrops! I had a blast! The family of two teenagers and two kids were ALL photogenic and so much fun to photograph!!

We started off with group shots and when I was done with the first pose, they all headed back inside! LOL! They made me laugh so hard, they thought that was it.  Little did they know how much I love taking photos! After group shots, we did singles. The four year old little girl just thought she was a princess and she of course she is and deserves as many photos as she wanted! She did great and her two brothers looked great by an old barn and on the trampoline.  Her older sister cozied up on a porch chair and looked fabulous.

What a great family and great scenery.  I might have to hire them for their house and backdrops! Enjoy!

For the good of our country

I had the opportunity to take my first sitting with Portraits of Love, an organization that has teamed up with JC Pennys and local photographers to allow the Families of deployed service members to send free photos to their loved ones.  It's a great opportunity for these Families, and the "S" Family were great subject matters! What a great Family.  I'm glad that I was able to help them send some holiday joy to their Husband/Father who is currently deployed.

Fall is in the Air

With the signs of fall finally showing, the family and I decided to get into the Halloween spirit.  We headed to Hubb's Corn Maze in Clinton, N.C., for some family fun.

What I was really looking for was a pumpkin patch to torture my son while I took the "oh so adorable" fall pumpkin pictures.  What I found was a small 6 foot by 6 foot square of hideous pumpkins.  However, as a photographer, you have to make what your are given a picture perfect scene, even if it's not the ideal spot.  Below are a few photos from the patch and the corn maze.

My son loved running free through the maze.  This is the best time to photograph, when kids are being kids.

This was such a gem to find, a morning glory growing among the dried up cornstalks.

Even though I was given a small pumpkin patch, I made it look larger by putting my son as the subject and using perspective.  It's fun to get creative!

Playing with Animals

The family and I decided to visit our state’s zoological park this weekend for multiple reasons. One – family time, of course. Two – long weekend (Labor Day) = fun, fun, fun! And three – Why not? We’ve lived in North Carolina for almost 5 years, might as well!

A Relaxing Trip to Massachusetts

Phew! What a week.  I just got back from vacation and I want to show ya’ll my try at landscape. Even though we didn’t have the best weather (it rained 5 days out of 7) I managed to enjoy myself.

Taking pictures of inanimate objects and bringing “life” to portraits are a little tricky to me.  I like taking pictures of living models because they give so much to the portraits I take — but I suppose that’s the easy way of making your portraits inviting and interesting. So here is my try at landscape.

Welcome to my photo blog!

I'm excited to announce that Sharilyn Wells Photography is picking up.  So with that being said, I need to pick up the pace as well!

I am beginning this photo blog to keep you all in the loop on photo sittings that I've taken on and give a "sneak peak" to you faithful clients while I'm editing and putting together your orders.

Speaking of orders, I'm also looking into soon offering a print service through a previewing Web site.  Yes, this does mean Sharilyn Wells Photography is going to go through some changes, but after all, I need to build and sustain my craft.

I'm sure you've all noticed that I have also changed Sharilyn Wells Photography's logo and will be putting together business cards to hand out.  For all my continuous clients, I will hand out five cards next time I see you to pass out to family and friends.  Each person you've recommend me to and sets up an appointment, you will get a 10% discount on your next sitting.

A Web site is also in the makings ... so buckle up and hang on tight because this is going to be a quick and bumpy ride! I look forward to venturing through the unknown with all of you!
