Week 3 & 4 | 52 Week Photo Challenge | Fayetteville, N.C. Photograph

Week 3: Starts with the letter "P" -- "P" is for Patience.

Week 4: Starts with the letter "C" -- "C" is for Cozy Cat.

Poor guy, he wants to go outside so bad ... but it's soooo cold! he'll freeze his tail off!

Okay, so lemme explain my thought process. I really liked how the cat was just sitting there ... but I had this image in my brain and when I edited it ... it just didn't look right. So, I took another "C" picture.

Week 4: "C" is for Cozy Cuddlebug.

But then, here's the thing. After the photographer's get together ... I really LOVED this picture.

So, I entered this picture in the PC challenge on Facebook. I had a lot of comments and questions as to how I did this image ... so I showed it. After all, "C" is for Composite.

And wouldn't you know ... I won TOP HONORS for the week! What?! So, my image is the Photographer's Connection's cover page all week long and I get to put this AWESOME button on my page! ;-)

See how the world works? Third time IS the charm. I'm always amazed at all the wonderful images that PC shares from all sorts of amazing photographers and the fact that I'm part of it now! I'm couldn't be more proud to be sharing the spotlight with some awesome, creative people. Check out the Top 10 honors of the week HERE.

Abandoned Building | Photog G2G | Linden, NC Photographer

I had the pleasure of hanging out with some of my fellow photographer friends again this past weekend at an abandoned/being renovated building in Linden, N.C. We also some AWESOME models show up with their own "theme" to shoot. We had an English/Sherlock Holmes (Joy Anna) tribal (Ricky), cute urban (Alexis), and a hipster (Levi) models to work with and WOW! Did they rock it or what?!

Because this was a model/photog get together, I got to experiment with some editing techniques, I went from subtle  editing to "holy cow is that London?!" editing. I think they came out great and I couldn't be more proud! LOL

Here are some behind the scenes shots as well! Photographers doing their THANG.

Makeup and Hair was done by CANDY.

Eddie from SPIKE IMAGES and Kristin from KRISTIN IRONS PHOTOGRAPHY.

William is old school and shoots film. You can see his work HERE.

Rico from Rico Allende Photography.
And last but not least, my son tagged along for the shoot and took this shot of fellow photographer, Stew, from Stewie B Photography. I think I've got a photographer on my hands! ;-)

Rainy Days | Photog Get-together | Fayetteville, NC Photographer

Yet again, another photographer get together it rained. I was soooo pumped to shoot that I made my good friend come out and she brought her gorgeous daughter. Another photographer joined us (though she hid from the camera and made me swear not to share any of her photos! LOL).

Gorgeous girl right?! I mean, it's amazing how well she photographs! And look at the black and white! She was working that camera! She gave me her model pose and owned it! (BTW, she's wearing my scarf! LOL)

And of course, her momma worked that camera as well!

Playing around | Photog Get-together | Fayettville, NC Photographer

Messing around with some fellow male photographers at a super secret location and I ended up getting these four shots that I absolutely loved. I loved how the black and whites came out. I discovered a new editing style that I will be incorporating in my client sessions.

This cat is pretty cool. It was the first time I met Steve, but he's a pretty rad dude. And yes, I said rad. LOL Go check out his work HERE.

Rico is an awesome dude himself. I love his style. He shoots dark and creepy images and they really make you think. He knows a lot about light and isn't afraid to experiment. Check out his work HERE.

See, the thing was, I was supposed to be heading a themed, weird Christmas shoot. But the weather kept our models bundled up inside. So, I ended up modeling for the guys. I had a blast and learned a lot about light. I love photographer get-togethers! We share laughs, techniques, and tips. It's awesome.

Below are a few pics that they took of me! Check it out! I love each of them!

RICO ALLENDE PHOTOGRAPHY:

BLYTHE CRADY PHOTOGRAPHY:

This was a cool shot that Steven got of the other guys working. Another photographer, Osvaldo, was with us as well, though he was able to someone miss my camera ... ;-) LOL I'll get him one day.

Steven got a really cool shot, below, with a slow shutter speed and Rico hitting a flash every so often ... Rico even made a weird appearance in my image. LMAO These guys are a hoot!

OSVALDO EQUITE:

Osvaldo Equite is a military photographer and I had the pleasure of working with him during Operation Toy Drop.

He too is a very talented photographer who is up and coming. I don't have a link to his work, but if you Google him, his work will definitely show up! :-)

They even had me risk my life! ;-)

All in all, it was a great day. It was cool, rainy, and muddy, but we had a blast. I'm so very thankful that our local photography community is willing to help out other photographers and share in their experiences, teach techniques and just goof around! I know not many photographers can say they have supportive "competition," but I can! Thank you!

Week 1 & 2 | 52 Week Photo Challenge | Fayetteville, N.C. Photographer

Please visit PC HERE

New year, new challenge and this year, dag-nabit, I'm going to stick to it and do every challenge. I may not post every week, but I will make sure to share every photo. Because, well, we all know how I am and ensuring an on time post! ;-)  Here goes:

Week 1: New Year's Resolutions/Goal -- To pay attention to the little things in life and get back to the basics of photography with them.

Week 2: Innocence -- My lil' man modeled for me with his stuffed pup, "Puppy." He loves that stuffed animal so much, more than any other stuffed animal I've given him. Maybe because he bought Puppy with his own money! He was so proud!

Has Winter Finally Come? | Art | Fayetteville NC Photographer

This morning it was 30 degree out there and frost was everywhere ... so what did I do? I took pictures of course! I literally pulled over on the side of the road on my way into work and snapped a few shots. What do you think?

I also tried out my new plastic (or toy) lenses that my husband so sweetly surprised me with as late Christmas presents. They are a type of lomography lens that can be adapted to my digital camera. I'm still getting the hang of the lenses .... but I think these images came out pretty darn well!

These two (the one above and below) were taken with a lens that would normally be on a Holga camera.
I think this one is my favorite ... and to think, I almost trashed it.
The image below was taken with a lens that would normally be on a Diana. It's called "Dreamy." You can see hints of the dreamy in the wisps around the grass (halos).

All in all, I think my quick little frost session came out pretty darn cool! ;-)

Top 12 of 2012 | End of Year | Fayetteville N.C. Photographer

Well hello there! It's 2013, a new year, a new start, and of course new FUN with SWP!

Cheesy, I know, but that's what I'm all about. Cheesy fun.

With the new year here already, I cannot help but be thankful for all that SWP has become. 2012 proved to be the best year of business since SWP opened, three years ago. I have no one to thank but you guys! You guys are the reason why Sharilyn Wells Photography, LLC has grown so much and I just want to say THANK YOU! YOU ROCK! Please continue to spread the word about SWP and the experiences we've shared. Not to mention, keep booking me yourselves! Like I always say, memories are forever remembered in a photograph. Why not not capture life through the lens of my camera?!

To end out the 2012 year, I wanted to share a few of my favorite images of the year, 12 to be exact. Do you know how hard it was to get the number down to 12?! It took a lot of closing the windows, adding, taking away, asking my son, and 5 days to get to this number. I love all of my clients and by making these lasting relationships, it was so hard! But, it's a new year and I look forward to having an even harder time at the end of 2013 to get down to 13 favorite images!!! LOL

Without further ado, the Top 12 Images of 2012 (in no particular order):
