I was asked to photograph Diamond for a feature in The City Magazine, which you can read HERE. I didn't know much about the "why" she was being featured, but I knew it had to be for something special. Then I met Diamond. What a strong, beautiful, and powerful individual. She then told me her story and I was blown away. What an amazing woman for other to look up to. I know I sure do!

This young lady volunteered to help me out on a boutique photo session. I was so impressed with her, that I wanted to take a few more minutes after our boutique session ended to just photograph her being her. And wow! What a beauty.  This lovely lady was not only my Army boss not too long ago, but also a great friend who is helping bring to light a great not-for-profit organization Veterans Without Orders.

Veterans Without Orders is a not-for-profit organization designed to afford veterans an opportunity to continue serving in a humanitarian capacity. When she asked me to do head shots for her as the Public Affairs Director ... I of course said YES!  Y'all, I'm telling ya. The more I do business head shots for people, the more I enjoy it. I think it's because I put my own twist on the "headshot." I'm not in a studio, so I'm not bound by four walls. I can use my surroundings and get people to relax and have fun. I mean, who wants a stuffy, stiff professional headshot?

Like a Boss | Business Headshot | Fayetteville, NC Photographer

This young man is getting out of the military and looking to join the civilian work force. So he called me for some business head shots. I always like photographing men because it's not the norm. Men usually don't care for the camera and the only reason why they get in front of it is because the wife, girlfriend, fiancee, mom, sister ... whomever female, wants a picture of them. So I love the challenge of photographing men alone. And for some reason, they're a lot of fun to photograph because most of them joke in between the shots laugh at themselves. I love it. 

 

And this cat was no different. I enjoyed walking around Historic Downtown Hay Street with him and just laughing and chatting as we stopped at certain locations for a portrait or two. My favorite? The picture below.... there's something about those stairs that I love!

And of course, no blog post would be complete with a little back-lighting. This is why I love the lifestyle type shooting for business head shots I do. It's different and not so uptight. It allows the subject to relax and be themselves. I mean after all, they are selling themselves in these portraits ... why not help them do that?
